Kitchen Remodel
Goals:
The client wanted to apply an industrial aesthetic to the compact kitchen and eating area in his flat. The counters and finishes are minimal, so we used the ceiling to strengthen the statement, and add order to the spaces. The kitchen had an awkward hallway leading from the main circulation. There wasn't much that could be done to reroute circulation, so we thought, why not make this hall a design feature by creating an interesting transition zone. We lowered the ceiling, creating a compressive space which opens up to high ceilings of the kitchen and sunroom.
